This means a decision will have to be made about what to do with the Portmahomack website as it doesn’t make sense for me to continue paying for the necessary software licences, design software and various other IT services just so that I can go on supporting it. In developing and managing the site over the course of the last 16 years I have merely passed on the relevant hosting and domain registration charges at cost shared by the Carnegie Hall, Portmahomack and Community Council.
This was viable when I was already incurring the aforementioned IT costs as part of the day-to-day running of my business (plus I wanted to do my bit for the village!). However, in retirement, it will not be possible for me to incur expenses solely for the sake of a single website (even if said site does relate to this great village of ours!).
I am suggesting a yearly rate of £75 per entry per year to cover the cost of software subscriptions and maintenance of the website (including a refresh).
